Trimming machines typically involve spring steel knife blades on pneumatic cylinders, to remove excess material on plastic molded parts. Some of our trimming machines incorporate rotary means to cut around the circumference of a part. Other machines incorporate the use of a hydraulic ram pushing parts against rigid knife assemblies to remove excess scrap plastic, i.e. flash, from the perimeter of blow molded parts. We have decades of experience in making trimming machines. Contact our sales department for your trimming needs.

AUTO DEFLASH & TRIM MACHINES

Want the biggest bang for your buck? These top of the line fixtures make processing a breeze as they rarely require more than one operator to handle a “deflash to finish” operation on most parts. Integration of poka yoke, leak testing, drilling, knifing, routing, part and scrap transferring are all handled with ease with this method. With the proper mold layout and flash considerations, it allows for one or multiple part cavities to be machined.

Knife and Guillotine cutting

A common application that is used to trim off openings on a blow molded part to finish specifications, using a pointed knife blade or a guillotine shaped blade on a cylinder. Experience is everything when it comes to doing this correctly as it is more an art than it is a science. Here at Rennco, we have done thousands of these successfully. We have the experience to know what does or doesn’t work with most materials and thicknesses. This ensures that your machine maintains production worthy parts with minimal to no fine tuning. For Robotic Knife Cutting, click here.

Trim dies

A die set designed to trim the excess plastic scrap off of a blow molded part. They are mainly manufactured out of hardened steel in the exterior shape of the finish part. Trim dies eliminate labor time in manually trimming out a finished product from its molded state when it comes out of a molding press. Trim dies are designed to be installed in a pneumatic or hydraulic ram-style press (see below).

HYdraulic press

A universal type of machine that uses hydraulic pressure  in a clamping, trimming or punching application.  We pride ourselves in designing and building a rigid frame and die set press with more than the usual amount of bearing life. The utilization of soft start valves make these smooth operators without the banging and clanging you normally experience.

Spin trimming

A common method used to cleanly trim round surfaces with tight tolerances, filled materials of glass, nylon or obtuse shapes with the aid of cam paths. This can be used on single or multiple cavities of parts.
